Kiddo Tilt

The active Tilt wheelchair. The Kiddo Tilt has been designed to offer exceptional adjustability and is provided with our revolutional tilt system! The ideal positioning of the shoulder axle in relation to the rear wheel. The mechanism is especially designed so that the pivot is close to the balance point. Tilting without change of center of gravity. This tilting function allows the smooth change of the user´s position and grants an effective relaxation of spine and pelvis. The Tilt can be adjusted from -10 and up to +50 degrees. The Tilt is a practical indoor and outdoor wheelchair and ideal for children who want to drive themselves. One of the few available tilting wheelchairs suitable for self-drive.

The Kiddo Tilt is always manufactured to the measurements of the child and is adjustable in seat width, -height, and -dept, allowing the chair to grow with the child. An innovative pediatric wheelchair with a contemporary design that is highly manoeuvrable thanks to its compact design and especially easy to handle. The chair is designed so that the child feels comfortable and is supported optimally and thus can safely explore the world.

Maximum user weight for the Kiddo Tilt is 75kg. The Kiddo Tilt is tested and approved in accordance with the European standard: NEN-EN 12183 and for safe transport in motorised vehicles in accordance with ISO 7176-19 - crashtest-safe (TÜV Rheinland).

The base

The rigid frame of the Kiddo Tilt is made of High quality aluminum. So we give a 5 year warranty in case of frame breakage. The wheelchair side shields function as clothing protectors and also ensure the correct positioning of the user. The robust push handle is easy to adjust in height (infinitely) and is part of the central back tube on which the backrest is mounted. The entire back unit including backrest / headrest and handle can be made quick release removable (option). Our swiveling anti-tippers prevent the wheelchair from tipping over backwards. - Aluminum design fork
  
  The kiddo Tilt comes standardly equipped with an aluminum 'design' fork with 5" leak-proof 'black' caster wheels. These front wheels can be provided with bumper wheels on top to avoid collisions and damage to furniture etc.
- Armrests
  
  The side screens are there to protect clothing and ensure proper positioning. For the armrests (PU-material) there is a choice of fixed armrests or tilting armrests (both height adjustable), Additionally, you can choose a depth adjustment in the armrests. In that case there will be mounted a strip between the tilting system and armrest. (height and depth adjustable)
  
  Transfer handles
  In order to provide the user extra support with going in and out of the wheelchair, tranfer handles can be mounted at knee-lever height.
- Transportation
  
  For convenient transportation purposes, the push bar, the backunit (optional) and the wheels can be removed.
  Transportfixation: Tie-down Brackets can be mounted on the front and back on the frame of the wheelchair Crash-tested: according ISO 7176-19 and approved for safe transportation in motor vehicles.
Rear wheels and integrated drum brakes & Hoops:
Depending on the desired size can be selected from 22, 24 or 26inch size rear wheels. The rear wheels are fitted with our unique Veltrom drum brake system. These brakes are easy to use/access and always work. The drum brakes also function in rainy weather and even when the tyres are flat. The drum brakes are operated by the user with the control levers, the brake lever can be extended to the upper side of the hoop. Sometimes it is desirable that the brakes are operated by the attendant. Options brake control!

All our rear wheels are standard equipped with comfortable ERGO Grip hoops and are provided with 'Schwalbe rightrun "black tyres (extra comfort for the user). Of course you can also choose the leak-proof tyres or Schwalbe 'OUTDOOR' tyres if desired. The rear wheels are quick and easy to disassemble using the quick-release axles. Veldink hoops are synonymous to ERGO grip hoops! The most popular hoops on all of our wheelchair models. We came up with a design that is in line with the anatomy of the hand! Moreover, we use a material that is softer, and has better non-slip and heat insulating properties. This material (polyurethane) is highly resistant to impact, abrasion and puncturing by obstacles.

Aluminum Hoops instead of Ergo Grip?

Of course, if desired, we can replace the standard Veldink4kids Ergo Grip hoops with ordinary aluminum hoops. These aluminum hoops can be equiped with a spacer to the rim. And can also be fitted with tetra controls knobs.
Feet- & leg support:

The robust base system is mounted under the seat. Both the height and the angle can be easily adjusted. For the correct positioning of the feet and legs, there are several models available. Standard on the Tilt is the one piece footplate that can be fitted with heel support edge and/or side supports. But there is also the option to choose the shared footrest (two piece split). These can be mounted in a fixed, foldable- and/or resilient performance (See our instructional video!). In addition, it is possible to apply an elevating legrest (biomechanical) or a supporting leg shell. You will find the different foot and ankle fixation possibilities under submenu 'positioning'.

Below are the details of the various options:
- One piece Footplate
  
  The Kiddo Tilt comes standard with a one piece flat footplate and can be adjusted in height and angle. The footplate is optional available with a heel edge support and/or side support. The footplate can be mounted in a fixed, foldable and/or resilient performance. You can find the different foot and ankle fixation possibilities under submenu 'positioning'.
- Separated footplates
  
  The separated (two piece split) footrests are available in three sizes (size S,M & L) and can be provided with heel edge and/or side support and a rubber bumper on the front and back of the footrest. The footrests can be optionally provided with a resilient mountin system (dynamically), anti spasm. You will find the different foot and ankle fixation possibilities under submenu 'positioning'.

  The Kiddo Tilt can also be equipped with comfort leg support equipped with a calf plate and equipped with a biomechanical hinge. Very easy to set up and adjust, and can also swing away. If a temporary leg care is needed it will be better to choose a leg scale/plate system (can be mounted both left and/or right).

Our anatomical seat!

An optimal seating support for each child is differently. for that reason every seat cushion is made individually and there is a wide choice of options and configurations. Possibly expanded with additional seat and body supporting accessories. Standard seat cushions are equipped with a 2-layer foam system for optimum pressure distribution and comfort. The seat can be upholstered with different fabrics. For example, the spacermesh black fabric, black stamskin, or black neopreen.

Standard, the cushions are upholstered with black spachermesh (breathable fabric) with Cordura finished edges.
- Anatomical seat
  
  Often chosen, an anatomical shaped seat that ensures proper posture and good pressure distribution and sitting balance.
- Ergo Seat
  
  For children who tend to slide forward an ergo seat can solve the problem. Due to the reduced seatingthe child maintain in proper seating position.
- Abduction wedge
  
  The removable abduction wedge (pommel) prevent abduction of the legs. The abduction pommel is mounted underneath the seat and is easy to remove. The swing-away wedge system is not an option for the Kiddo Tilt due to the space under the seat.
  
  Instead of a wedge you can also choose the abduction pommel (foam).
Backrests:

For the correct positioning and optimal support a perfect backrest is of great importance. That is why the choice of backrest is entirely individual an completely adjusted to the users needs. The one piece (custom made) back is the most chosen backrest. It's anatomically shaped with or without integrated side supports.

For other backrests and side supports look below. The Kiddo Tilt can be provided with a Tarta Back by our Veldink4kids adapter. Tarta back!
Standard, all the cushions are upholstered with black spachermesh (breathable fabric) with Cordura finished edges.
- Two piece split back (separated backs)
  
  Ergonomics was the starting point in the development of our two piece split back. Like two hands wich support the back, each part is perfect adjustable. There are 2 types available. The PU (black) foam pad is available in three standard sizes, Size S, M & L. The custom made split back parts (with integrated side support) are upholstered with black spacermesh fabric.
- One piece back (anatomical)
  
  The Kiddo is usually equipped with a custom-made anatomically shaped one piece back. For additional support and safety this back can be equipped with fixed or swing away side supports. They are adjustable in height and width for optimal positioning. The swing away system can also swing away from the side cushion up to 180degrees
- One piece back (side support)
  
  When more support is needed! One piece back with integrated side support (deep contour), upholstered with black spacermesh fabric and fully tailored to the child.
